Brush Shears

Shears function to cut through woody material such as tree trunks, brush, and saplings using opposing blades driven by hydraulic force. They enable ground-level cutting for efficient land clearing, invasive species removal, regrowth control, and preparing sites for construction, ranching, or agricultural use without manual chainsaw labor.

The Ranch Axe Tree Shear is available in 14-inch and 16-inch models, capable of shearing hardwood species like mesquite, oak, osage orange (hedge), and locust, as well as softwoods such as cedar. The 16-inch model is designed for tougher, more extreme land clearing applications.

Maxx Attachments' Ranch Axe Tree Shears feature universal skid steer coupler hooks and standard flow flat face couplings, making them compatible with most new-model skid steer loaders. A minimum hydraulic flow rate of 15 gpm is required for proper operation.

The shear blades are constructed from 3/4-inch AR400 steel using a bolt-on, replaceable milled knife design. This allows for easy blade replacement after wear without needing to replace the entire shearing arm, reducing long-term maintenance costs.

Standard arm models offer a more compact overall depth for tighter maneuvering, while extended arm models provide additional reach for cutting in harder-to-access areas. Both configurations are available for the 14-inch shear and use the same solid cast steel construction and shearing cylinder rating.

Yes, an optional sprayer kit can be added to the tree shear attachment to apply herbicide directly to freshly cut stumps immediately after shearing. This helps prevent regrowth of invasive species like cedar and hedge, reducing the need for repeated clearing passes.
